Third Listed triumph for Intello's Deus

The six-year-old Intello gelding Homo Deus secured back-to-back Listed victories with a win in the 2400m Prix de la Porte de Madrid at Saint-Cloud yesterday.

Ridden by regular partner Anthony Crastus for trainer Francois Monfort, Homo Deus was never worse than fourth of the six runners as Diamond Vendome (Style Vendome) gradually built up a huge advantage at the head of affairs. A spent force shortly after turning for home, the leader was swamped before the 300m marker, and it was Homo Deus who carried the greatest momentum. Making light of testing conditions, he continued to lengthen close to the finish and was five and a half lengths clear of Rashford (Zarak) at the line. Mika D’O (Martinborough) took third.

Bred by Renaud Baguenault de Puchesse and owned by Jacques Liscia and Gerard Steibel, Homo Deus secured Listed honours for the first time in the Prix Max Sicard at Toulouse in 2022, before landing the Listed Grand Prix du Departement 06 at Cagnes-sur-Mer last month. Now the winner of ten of his 35 starts, this €19,000 Arqana October Yearling Sale graduate is one of two winners out of the dual French winner Cubiste (Fastnet Rock). His winning third dam Ring Beaune (Bering), a half-sister to the Gr.1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud winner and champion sire Poliglote(Sadler’s Wells), is responsible for the dual US Gr.1 victor Special Ring (Nureyev) and the Listed winners Celebrissime (Peintre Celebre) and Singing (Singspiel).
